Tour For The Cure began in September 1998 by John Vennare with a series of fundraisers benefiting Digital Mammography research at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, in memory of Patricia Vennare. He followed that up with a Canadian coast to coast cycling tour from Vancouver, British Columbia to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and was joined by cyclists Brian Kamperman, Derek Beale and photographer/driver Adrian Fish. The ride was in honour of Vennare's late wife Patricia, who succumbed to breast cancer in 1994 at a young age of 34. In 2001, Tour For The Cure (II) had its second successful fundraising ride this time across Newfoundland and was joined by good friends Adriano Nero and Tony Arcuri. In 2008 and 2011, the same group cycled across the Yukon and then around the shores of Lake Ontario. Cycling trips along the North America's longest road, Yonge Street, took place in 2016.
